Amate Paper Weave Design
The Amate Papers are very versatile and can be used for drawing, light painting applications, and printing both traditional and non-traditional.
One side is smooth, while the other side has a slight tooth, and all for sides have a natural deckle. The Circles, Weave, Lace, and Lattice have open areas throughout the paper but they still contain a border with four deckle edges.
Amate paper is handmade by the artisans from the Puebla mountains, who transform the pulp of the bark of the jonote tree to shape various designs out of the bark pulp. The technique used by artisans dates from pre-Hispanic times and was widely used during the Aztec empire, especially in rituals.
